This week we’re going back to Lightroom, though what we’re discussing today can be applied to any software you use to catalog and organize your photos.

One of the MOST important things we need to do as photographers is to keep our photos organized! It doesn’t matter how amazing the photos are that you take if you can’t find them to edit, share or deliver to your clients!

So in today’s videos I’m answering a question that MANY of you have asked me, which is to detail how I keep my photos organized.

In the video I’ll show you how I handle importing photos, tagging them, the folder structure I use to keep my photos organized, and how I use the tags and color labels in Lightroom to create smart collections to make finding my final edits super quick and easy.

Though I’m showing you the system I use, I want to stress that this isn’t necessarily the right organizational system for everyone to use. I wanted to share my system because it might work for you, or it might help you develop or refine your system to work better.

The important thing is that you have and/or develop an organizational system that works for you, and then stick with it! There’s nothing worse than having wonderful photos that you can’t find!

Lightroom is a powerful photography tool, but the problem with powerful tools is they’re often complicated and intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
