Ameet Pawar was wondering about the different wireless triggering options for flash, so in this video we’re talking all about wireless flash triggering, including the difference between Pocket Wizards, Yongnuo triggers, commander modes and more!

Here’s Ameet’s question:

“Could u explain about the difference between pocket wizards, remote transreciever or inbuilt Commander mode and wireless triggering using built in flash?”

There are three basic wireless triggering systems out there, Radio triggers, Infrared triggering (wireless TTL) and Optical triggering.

Now getting your flash off of the camera is one of the most powerful things you can do to enhance your lighting work, and figuring out how to get your flash to fire wireless can be one of the more confusing ventures in photography

So in this video I’ll explain how each one of those different systems work, as well as briefly talk about the system I use and some of the advantages and disadvantages of the different systems.

I used to be scared of my flash, and I understand how intimidating flash photography can be, but a flash is just a tool. Once you understand how that tool works you’ll be using your flash to create photos that used to seem impossible.
