Brendan Reilly wanted to know how to photograph moving water to get that foamy, silky smooth look.

Here’s Brendan’s question:

“Hello Spyros I was wondering how to shoot water to make it smooth silky smooth I have a canon eos d450 what settings would I use thanks for your time ( great videos )”

To capture silky smooth water you’ve got to use a longer shutter speed in order to allow the motion of the water to move through the frame and smooth everything out.

It’s not as easy as it sounds though because if you’re trying to shoot during the day, the light from the sun will be so bright that you’ll struggle to get a long enough shutter speed, which is where ND filters will come in handy!

Your camera is an amazing tool, but it’s no good to you if you don’t know how to use it!
