I have a confession to make. I love Taylor Swift. During shoots we’re often jamming to Taylor, but it’s not just her music. Her imagery is also top notch! And if you’re a photographer worth your salt, then you’ve got an idea file like I do!
Well, this has been sitting in my idea file for quite awhile now
I saw this image in a YouTube video a year or so ago. I don’t even remember the video, but I do remember hitting the pause button immediately so I could grab my phone and take a pic for my idea file!
I also immediately knew I wanted to do this shoot with Cassandra, so we got together, put on some Taylor and got to work!
These are a few of the photos from the shoot, and in the video I show you exactly how I lit the shot and talk a bit about my philosophy and approach to lighting a shot.

I used to be scared of my flash, and I understand how intimidating flash photography can be, but a flash is just a tool. Once you understand how that tool works you’ll be using your flash to create photos that used to seem impossible.
